Are you looking for a rewarding and challenging opportunity, offering advice and guidance to people affected by dementia?
Can you be compassionate and offer a person-centred approach to a wide variety of individuals? 

If yes, we’d love to tell you more about our Dementia Adviser role, to work as part of a team to improve outcomes for people affected by with dementia. 

Location: community based covering Redbridge and surrounding area, with some homeworking elements. 

Hours: 28 hours per week

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our talented team as a Dementia Adviser. You will have the rewarding experience of providing information, guidance and support to people affected by dementia in identifying their needs, to help maintain independence, improving sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives. 

This role will be supporting the south Asian community within Redbridge, so we are looking for someone who is be fluent in English and south Asian languages in particular Urdu. 

You will:

- Offer a vital service delivering information, guidance and support to guide those affected by dementia, face-to-face, by telephone and online.
- Managing referrals, assisting clients in assessing their information and support needs in a person-centred manner.
- Work closely with health, adult social care and third sector colleagues assessing, signposting, and providing information and guidance to support people affected by dementia.
- Build robust working relationships and develop networking opportunities with a range of local partners and community organisations. 
- Create pathways with partner organisations who work in the field of dementia, ensuring seamless, holistic consistent support and empowering individuals to make informed choices.  
- Facilitate group services including our Singing for the Brain face to face group and our carer information programme.

About you

- Fluent in south Asian languages mainly Urdu, (but it will be a bonus if you are also able to speak either of the following: Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi)
- A good communicator 
- Able to travel in around the London borough of Redbridge  
- Have experience working within NHS environment’s and liaising face to face with healthcare and voluntary sector professionals and building rapport within the borough of Redbridge.
- Be experienced in leading group sessions  
- Reliable and possess problem solving skills
- Proficient in IT packages
